Frédéric Dorthe runs his family’s 20ha of vineyards located on the right bank of the Rhône River in the picturesque town of Saint-Marcel d’Ardèche. Due to long-standing contracts to sell most of his fruit, Fred’s domaine has flown under the radar for a long time. On the bright side, this allows him to make small amounts of honest, highly-drinkable wines from Southern Rhône grapes fermented and aged in cement with no additions except a small amount of SO2 at bottling, and sell them for a song.
