Hops meet vinyl
Queens-based brewery, SingleCut, is coming to Boston! You may have seen SingleCut’s unique can artwork and standout beer names on our feed before. They’re bringing their beer (and music) obsession to SoWa’s Beer Garden starting THIS Sunday, June 2. Even better? They’re taking up residency at the Beer Garden from June 2 through Sunday, June 23. A bit like Def Leppard or Billy Idol (or Cher) x Vegas. 💃
SingleCut’s mission is simple: “Mastery knows no shortcut.” As such, SC releases fresh, new brews each week that we can’t get enough of, including their new dry-hopped Kolsch: Hop Sounds. A bright and refreshing dry ale, dry-hopped with a blend of classic US and nouveau European buds. With four (YES FOUR) weeks of Beer Garden residency, there’s plentyyyy of time to try all the SingleCut goodness week after week. It’s also no secret that SingleCut’s founder and brewer, Rich Buceta, is music obsessedddd. So it makes sense that the SC crew is bringing their love of music to SoWa in a big way. Keep reading below for more info! 🎶
Shop for records + a giveaway for dad
Since SingleCut’s music love runs deep (especially for records), they wanted to spread the vinyl love. Cheapo Records, a local Cambridge-based music store is popping up at the SoWa Beer Garden with SingleCut on Sunday, June 23! You’ll get to sip on brews and browse through new and used records. And mayyyyybe even find the records that inspired SingleCut. Cheapo is bringing lots of Rock n Roll 🤘 (read: garage rock, glam, metal, classic rock and much more) + their retro apparel collection.
And if you’re looking for the PERFECT Father’s Day gift, stop by the Beer Garden this Sunday, June 9 AND on Father’s Day to enter for a chance to win a dope record player for dad. Winner or not, there’s still plenty of damn good beer and records to go around. 👌 P.S. Father’s Day is Sunday, June 16!
**Note: Since the SoWa Beer Barn was cancelled on Father’s Day due to weather, SingleCut will be running the giveaway THIS Sunday, June 23!**
On tap for Sunday, 6/23
We’ve got a few newbies to this week’s SingleCut lineup – just in time for SingleCut’s last takeover!
Kim Hibiscus Sour Lager | Bright, vibrant, lush, a sour made for pint glasses and icy coolers. SC sour mashes wheat malt and lager for an extended period with their house strain, finally adding whole hibiscus flowers and a touch of black current, creating a vibrant rose hue and incredibly aroma. Notes of dark fruit, floral tannin, bright lemon, and a touch of sweet wheat | 4.2% ABV
18-Watt IPA | THE REDEFINITION OF THE SESSION IPA. Orange zest, pine resin and tropical lupulin beauty that easily rivals much bigger IPAs, with a substantially full, soft malt body that compliments but doesn’t interfere with the hop attack. When you want the push, weight, and attack of a much heavier (I)IPA but need to be productive tomorrow | 5% ABV
Strictly Hand-Held | A Kooler Kölsch – SC’s take on this venerable style starts with a clean, classic canvas and adds sweet honey and milk sugar, delicious fresh ginger and finally deliciously tart lemons. An absolute delight to be savored on the sunniest of days | 5% ABV
Jån Alpine White Lager | The olfactory is working overtime, noting the distinct sweet citrus, delicate flowery herbal and complex spice aromas and flavors of this lager. Smooth soft light malt, finishes very dry and clean with an orange tang and some soft herbal complexity. The ultimate patio brew | 5.2% ABV
Weird and Gilly | Some Cat from Japan asked SC to make an IPA that was juicy, and nothing else. So they packed up a pack horse and made it happen. Keep your electric eye on this one | 6.6% ABV
All That Is Now DDH IIPA | FAR AWAY ACROSS THE FIELD there is a golden IIPA with a tropical / bright citrus / mild pine and spice with smooth / soft lightly sweet malt that will take you home home again. This version has two ginormous dry-hop additions. Formally known as DOUBLE DRY-HOPPED SOFTLY SPOKEN MAGIC SPELLS IIPA | 8.6% ABV
